SAP's DSEX System Status

See Also

The SAP system status DSEX means that the operation or work order that it is set against has been externally scheduled. The impact of this is that people will not be able to reschedule the work order within SAP whilst this system status is in place.

The four letter code DSEX actually stands for "Date set by external system"

If you attempt to schedule a work order where the DSEX system status has been set, SAP will indicate that it has scheduled the work order. However, if you look at the scheduling log, it will issue a number of information messages in the scheduling log, indicating that the work order has been scheduled externally and you cannot change the dates.

images\tip.gif The process of externally scheduling a work order does not change the work order’s basic start date or its basic end date. This is a very useful tool to use when you are doing your schedule compliance reporting. Firstly, you can look at planned dates from maintenance plans and compare them against the forecast dates once the work orders have been scheduled. Secondly, once you have completed the work orders, your actual dates can be compared against your planned dates from your maintenance plan.

Note that DSEX is the code when you are running SAP under the English language. If you were running SAP under German, for example, the code would be TMEX, meaning "Termine von ext. Syst. gesetzt". Here is a list of some the languages and their equivalent codes.
