Turning On and Off Work Order Grouping

The work orders shown on the summary screen are grouped by default. You can turn on and off the work order grouping by checking or un-checking the checkbox marked "Turn on grouping of work orders on the summary screen".

Selecting the Grouping Field

The field that you group work orders by must be a field that has been mapped as an activity code. See the section on Mapping Activity Codes for instructions on how to do this. If the field that you want to group the work orders is not on the drop down list, click on the Back button and then add that field as an Activity Code.

Select one of the mapped activity codes from the drop-down list to be used as the grouping field. At the completion of the Mapping Wizard, the screens will be refreshed and that field will be used to group the work orders on the SAP summary screen and the activities on the P3 summary screen.

images\tip.gif Select the work order field that you mainly use to indicate work order priority to help you quickly select, transfer and prioritise work orders in your Primavera P3 plan. For example, if you use order type as a priority indicator, group by that field and then transfer the work orders by each group of work order type. After each transfer, assess your remaining resources for any remaining work and then, if you have any carry over, transfer across the next block of work order type.

Showing Unassigned Work Orders and Activities

In some cases, the mapped field you select as a grouping field may not have a value in an SAP work order. For example, using the default SAP Plant Maintenance configuration, the priority field is not a mandatory field for any of the work order types. Hence, with this configuration, you would get some work orders where the work order priority had not been set and where it did not have a default value.

Under the default Weavecentrix Desktop configuration, work orders such as this area grouped under the category "Unassigned" on the SAP summary screen. When the work orders are transferred to Primavera P3, they are again grouped under the "Unassigned" group on the P3 summary screen.

Some organisations may want these unassigned work orders not to display on the summary screen. To stop them being displayed, uncheck the checkbox marked "Show work orders and activities which do not have the grouping field assigned".

The unassigned work orders and activities are displayed by default.
