As part of the process for evaluating Weavecentrix Desktop, it is standard practice to use a SAP test environment before using it on your SAP production environment. This SAP test system is often called a sandpit system. This lets you try out the functionality of Weavecentrix Desktop without impacting your production data. Most SAP Administrators will give you a high level of SAP authorisations on your SAP profile as a sandpit system user. This is very useful as it lets you test the functionality without having to sort out the access levels first
To get you started easily, get your SAP administrator to grant you SAP_ALL access on the sandpit. This will give you the opportunity to evaluate the functionality of Weavecentrix Desktop without getting bogged down with SAP authorisation problems. Once you are happy with the product, we can set up the correct authorisations before migrating to the production system.
You may need an SAP administrator to help you with the configuration settings for connecting to the SAP system. We have a section on setting up your SAP connection which is usually sufficient information for a SAP administrator to give you the correct settings.
There are two approaches for setting up test projects in P3. The first is to use a distinct numbering sequence to differentiate between production projects and test projects. This tends not to be a problem during evaluation but can lead to some confusion later unless you have used a distinctive numbering sequence.
The other approach is to use a different directory for you test projects. The standard P3 projects directory is C:\P3WIN\PROJECTS but you are not restricted to using this directory.
