Selecting which Work Orders you want to Transfer

You select work orders for transfer my putting a check in the checkbox which is on the work order line for the work order. You click on the checkbox to mark a work order as being selected for transfer. There are various techniques for selecting and marking more than one work order at a time. These are covered in detail in the section Selecting Work Orders to Transfer section. The techniques are:

·      Selecting a Single Work Order

·      Selecting Individual Work Orders

·      Selecting a Range of Work Orders

·      Selecting Multiple Blocks of Work Orders

Transferring the Work Orders

To transfer work orders from SAP to your Primavera P3 project, you select the work orders on the SAP window and then click on the Transfer button on the SAP toolbar or use the Orders menu and select the Transfer menu option. Weavecentrix Desktop will then start to transfer your work orders and any resources it needs into your Primavera P3 project. Watch the status bar and the status light in both the SAP window and the P3 window to monitor the progress of your transfer.

images\information.gifWhen you transfer work orders into a P3 project, you may receive a couple of warnings: one about the project calendar and another about activity code updates. The project calendar warning is important if you want to perform resource levelling in your P3 project. You can turn off the warning using the Project Configuration Wizard if you don’t want to see the warning. The activity code update warning is the final check before Weavecentrix Desktop updates you activity code dictionary in P3. You can control the display of this warning through the Mapping Wizard.

Activity Codes in your P3 Project

When your work orders are created in your Primavera P3 project, they are set up as activities which are tagged with activity codes. The main activity code that you should be aware of is the work order number.

The next activity code that is set up is the one used for grouping the work orders on the screen. Usually, this work order field is the one used within an organisation as the primary driver for work order priority. You can change the field used for grouping on the Work Order Grouping page of the Mapping Wizard.

You can also set up a number of other activity codes in your P3 project using the Mapping Activity Codes page of the Mapping Wizard. Using the Mapping Wizard, you identify those SAP work order header fields that you want to use in your Primavera P3 project to group the activities. Using these codes, you can logically group your activities.
